Receptionist (CSR=customer service representative)

A CSR is assigned to assist both staff technicians and veterinarians, and VA.
Each CSR will demonstrate the capacity to provide excellent customer care.

Each CSR will be trained in the delivery of high quality, comfortable care to all facility animals during their employment at Montreal Road Animal Hospital. He/she will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary facility with the major focus on the exam rooms, lobby, bathrooms and treatment area.

The CSR will report to the RVT, NVT, VA and or veterinarian for all medical related issues and to the practice manager for all other issues.

By assisting the technicians and doctors, CSR can help maintain the high and very important standard of care for our patients. Every aspect of the patient’s care carries over into client service, as well. By educating our clients, we can give them the opportunity to provide optimum care for the life of their pet. Serving clients beyond their expectations with our patient care, customer service, and hospital cleanliness will enable us to forge strong bonds with our clients and their pets.

Requirements of this position include:

  • Medical receptionist degree or have sufficient knowledge through experience to provide service in our hospital.
  • Minimal high school degree or equivalence required.
  • Ability to read and write legibly in English and to communicate clearly both in person and over the telephone.
  • Secondary language skills desired.
  • Be proficiently computer literate. This is including typing, filing, faxing, scanning, attaching document to files, emailing and operating a phone. Experience with general office equipment and software such as Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel desired.

Essential Qualifications

Must genuinely enjoy working with animals even when they are stressed, ill or in pain. Calmly and safely restrain pets who may struggle, scratch or try to bite.

General animal husbandry and/or specific veterinary experience is required. · Employees must be able to respond calmly and quickly to frequent auditory signals, warnings, or communication from other staff, animals or medical equipment. Employees should be able to work unaffected in an environment where dogs are barking loudly or constantly.

• Must be able to make independent, common sense decisions and solve complex problems. • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. • Perform physical duties include repetitive standing, walking, bending and twisting. Must be able to grasp, hold and manipulate objects. • Must be able to observe abnormal behaviors and physical problems in patients. • The CSR must be able to operate and maintain equipment pertinent to carrying out their duties, including but not limited to laboratory equipment, dental and radiographic equipment. • Learn how to use the practice management software to enter services, medications, procedures and updates into patient record. This includes making prescriptions from the medical records.
